Highest quality timber with a clean appearance, obtained by selecting boards with minimal natural features such as knots, pin holes, insect markings, gum veins etc. so that the boards only show the timbers grain and colour. The features that are present are relatively small and few in number. Irrespective of the species the features although visible do not dominate the appearance of the floor.


Standard

Middle of the range grade allowing for more natural features then select grade, which enhances the natural beauty of timber and its features. This grade contains boards that may be moderately featured, including gum veins, insect trails, checking, pin holes and other types of interesting and natural characteristics.


Feature

Feature grade accentuates the highest amounts of natural features including pin holes, insect markings, knots and surface checks. This grade is popular in homes wanting the rustic look or for people who enjoy the natural beauty of timber.


Wormy

The term ‘Wormy’ comes from the swirling black squiggly markings created by the Ambrosia Beetle which weaves its tracks throughout the grain of this tree. Pin holes and gum veins add to the timbers physical characteristics, combined together the surface is full of feature, with that being said it is available in one grade. What sets ‘Wormy Chestnut’ apart are its visual characteristics which is comprised of the timber’s natural features creating an overall unique and rustic aesthetic.
